CYPRUS

DIMOTIKO SCHOLEIO ARADIPPOU E AGION AFXENTIOU KAI EFSTATHIOU is a goverment primary school in the town of Larnaka in the Aradippou region. We have 355 students aged from 6-12 years old, from 1st to 6th grade, as well as 29 teachers. We believe that every student has the right to equity and inclusion and all our teachers strive to create such an environment. We try to give priority to the development of skills and understanding to aid in the creation and achievement of equity and inclusion. It is important for every student to feel accepted, respected and fairly treated according to their different needs and experiences.

One of the most important aims of our school is to give the students the opportunity to access the education system through innovative approaches and new projects with students from other European countries, and to achieve their goals through teamwork.

This is especially true for students with disadvantaged backrounds and fewer opportunities (such as students with educational difficulties). This year our school joined a programme called D.R.A.S.E which stands for "actions for educational and social intergration". The main aims of the school are to support the vulnerable groups of the student population, to prevent school failure and early school leaving, and to support low social skills so as to ensure the intergration into the wider community.  We aim to create an environment  of equity and inclusion and we try to give priority to the development of skills and entrepreneurship. Several years ago I was involved in a Comenius partnership working on an environmental project, and therefore I am aware of the great advantages of such programmes for the students, and the invaluable opportunities for them to set and achieve goals with the interaction with students from other countries.
